Party over here, ain’t nothing over there.

Hello and welcome my friends. It has been a long, long week! I have been so busy I feel myself being worn to the point of collapsing. On the whole though, I have had some brilliant days and nights in the mean time. The highlight blatantly being a party I attended on Monday night which was insanely brilliant with me meeting many a new face. So where to start? I guess with Alan’s new phrase. I have mentioned many a time in Alan’s presence the phrase “…taking the piss out of me”. Alan has obviously taken this up wrong and has now adapted it to the all new and utterly brilliant “don’t piss on me!” This is a brilliant phrase, outshining the original by a clear mile! If anyone says something vaguely aimed at putting Alan down in some shape or form, it is normally greeted by “Don’t piss on me” accompanied by the good old wave of a finger. This makes me laugh without fail every time.

Playing football every Tuesday now. Real good fun, I go there with my work colleague Leung and meet with his team who are comprised of his fellow church goers. I must admit I really pulled it out of the bag the first week, putting some real nice belters into back of the net. Although this Tuesday I still played well, but upon removing my trainers when I got home I realised I could no longer bear to walk. For not only had I ripped my favourite trainers in the world that had been newly purchased, but I had also ripped every bit of skin that had previously made-up the bottom of my foot. I remember looking down at the new, oozing, red bare flesh thinking ‘Jesus, I remember when this thing used to resemble my foot.’ So after a lot of hopping and Sudacream I went to bed a broken, broken man. The next day I experienced what being an 80 year old about town must be like, for my walking pace can be compared to that of a 2 legged donkey. I realised the game was up, I had to rest. I had to cancel my date for a belated birthday celebration with Matt and crawl home to bed. Gary my friend told me I couldn’t keep going, and although reluctant due to letting Matt down I had to agree with him. For the date where Mickey would be meeting me was fast approaching and I can just imagine what she would say if I let her down. Just a side note - Leungs girl is the cutest girl I have ever met in my life, she is actually just a real-life version of a manga character, with all her animated expression and the bashful look amidst her face when talking.
Best meal in the world. Wed went out with Matt for our weekly meal now that he has gone and left me to work for UBS. We met at Mong Kok and we went to this wicked restaurant for hotpot, which we cooked ourselves upon a grill placed amid the table. Only one word can do justice to that meal = Absolutelygorgeous! The meat I am convinced was served by God himself in the kitchen, it being some of the most tender and succulent meats these teeth have had the pleasure of ripping and devouring. Afterwards we searched the market giving me plenty of ideas for room décor which I would purchase once I had some dough again. (By time of writing I have dough again, thus I have room décor now). Polished off a wonderful night with a good dose of arcades before heading for the cot, again finally resting my head at a stupidly late time that I have now become accustomed to.

Spiderman cooked us desert on Thursday night. I went to the gym Thur after work and rushed home afterward to meet Spiderman. I say Spiderman because that is the tune he was signing when I first met him. His actual name is Ning and he is sound as a pound. We have since had many a laugh together and he is the guy I have put myself forward as a hall representative with. Ning is a character to say the least! I am pretty sure you will have to go along long way to meet a guy like this again. This was made apparent at the disco to which I attended the upcoming Monday. The pros of my Spidy instead of the Hollywood version is my one is a nice guy, and the Hollywood Spidy is a big Dawson tit.

Saturday, the day my world stopped. I met with Matty baby, his bird Cas, Alan and his hopefully soon to be bird and we played badminton along with indulging in a healthy dose of tennis for good measure. All was well and good (despite less than 3 hours sleep) for the majority of the day and made even better by the fact Cas treated me to the cinema with Matt due to it being his birthday. We went to see Chuck and Larry, a film that I recommend on the grounds of it being a fairly decent comedy. Now this was a good day with me parting their company on a high, taking with me thoughts of how I like having productive Saturdays and what a nice couple Matt and Cas make (well if I tell the truth I was really thinking how fit Cas is :-P ). So I hopped on the E22 bus bound for Kowloon Tong, the place where I lay my head to rest each night. Upon arriving at my destination I realised the bus was trying to pull away without me exiting the vehicle. So I called “Oi, Oi, Oi” to which the bus had ground to an abrupt halt. I then legged it off the bus and in my haste to exit the vehicle I caught my good Nokia headphone connector only to have it clearly ripped off, something which I had not noticed until the bus had departed once again. I had to think quick and decided that I had a spare new one indoors and that I could suffer the loss of my Nokia companion. Then as I entered the hostel grounds I had a quick feel for my wallet, and to my absolute horror I had discovered that not only had my connector parted company from myself but my wallet had also jumped-ship. I cannot begin to describe the racing thoughts that began to fill my head. A few friends had noticed me and began to ask how I was doing, I was dumbfounded, thinking only how I should have chased that bus for my connector and I would not be feeling the anguish that was now taking over. There is only one man to call in a situation like this, so out came the phone. “Hello Jenkin. I have a problem, a real big one! I have lost my Hong Kong ID, bank cards, all my money, student ID and room card. What the feck should I do?” “Do not worry Joe, we will get them back. Just calm down” were the words that greeted me. Now I could write a novel on this situation but I will cut it short. I contacted all the relevant bus companies but to no avail. It was then that I had to admit defeat and go to security. “Hello my name is Joe, I have lost all my worldly belonging and was wondering do you have a noose I can possibly borrow.” It was then that this angel (well she can only be described as angel because she was some sex God sent down to alleviate all my worries by simply smiling at me) offered to help me out of my fix by lending some dosh. As much as I wanted to get to know this girl more, I decided to turn down this offer remembering that I also have a girl waiting for me in the U.K. She gave me the number for cancelling my HSBC cards and I gave them a bell. Upon trying to cancel my cards I was told that this had already been done, “What?” I said. How could this be so? Apparently some fella had found my cards and was handing them into the police. So after much pleading to a very unhelpful HSBC I finally was given his contact number along with the advice of not contacting him :-/ So I contacted him. Turns out Mr. Alan Chan is a fellow CityU student and 40 mins later I found myself departing the MTR from Tseung Kwan O (the dreaded PURPLE line) and shaking his hand, with the offer of $80 for his find. Alan Chan would take nothing from me and told me that us CityU students should look out for each other. I told him I am cooking him dinner next time he is at the hostels and exchanged numbers, it was about this time I felt my heart start beating again and the glazed-over look left my eye.

Save the best until last. Monday night was the best event in Hong Kong so far. I know I have said “…best night in Hong Kong” many a time before, but honestly things just keep getting better and better with Monday night being a belter of a night. Anyone who attended agreed and I came out of that night with some real good friends who I joked, laughed and danced the night away with. There was a party held for our Hall 1 on Monday night, a big orientation party for people to meet and play. I had already bought my ticket a week before hand with Ning and asked Rich had he wanted to go. He stayed in instead, so after work I rushed home and stole 10 mins sleep to ensure I didn’t collapse. Then I rose, showered and ventured forth. I met my friends Tommy and a few other fellas like Ivan and made my way to function hall C with them. I had to sign some stuff and enter myself in the raffle and collect my sticker with a picture of a tree on. This is where the fun started. We were grouped according by our floor within the Hall, and I soon was on first name terms with them all. Then the DJ stopped (she was shit :-) ) and the two announcers (one for Cantonese, and the other for English) started with their intro. We then proceeded to play games such as lining ourselves up in order of our birthdays without speaking (so so much fun) and a game where one side of the hall is ‘Yes’ and the others side is ‘No’, to which we divided and stood in order to answer questions posed to us. Then we cut a massive roasted pig, and for reasons unbeknownst to myself, they had chucked me in the middle with the pig and tried getting me to cut it by myself like some Lone Ranger, whilst they took picture after picture. A bit bashful I stood there smiling like a tit, but it was so much fun. We then had a massive buffet and I met with some of the guys and girls I had parted ways with the week beforehand after going to the beach with them. In particular I talked away with David an FBC (French born Chinese) who is so so sound, and I can tell we are both on the same sort of wavelength. I laughed and joked with Lucio an Italian boy who is so funny aswell. We get on great and we both snuck out of the fire-drill the other day for a fag (the fire department tried boring me to death via video. I actually decided to leave when it said “You notice a fire burning away in the shop while you are in the queue. What option should you take? Yes that is correct option C ‘Stay in the queue’.” I thought to myself the smoke had obviously taken its toll on the fire department over the years! Nowadays me and Lucio are always bantering at each other saying how we are going to take each other down at ‘Winning 11’ :-) The majority of the night though I spent laughing and joking with Sapphire. She is a real nice girl and I am growing quite fond of her. Anyway from my experience I have taken one thing away with me, and that is, if anyone knows how to party it is the Chinese. :-)

Loads more to write but I am sure you must be thinking I am slowly trying to put together a biography.

P.S Cannot believe I have not mentioned this before. My work place has the 24 ringtone for our office phones. Pointless to mention I know, but I am still waiting for the day I receive that call and have to fill Jacks boots (no small task I know) in order to deter a nuclear threat and phone President Palmer to ask for special permission to push the boundaries of interrogation that little further. :-P

Better late than never to leave a reply. The hectic routine of going to work has finally allowed me to settle back in since I have come back from Hong Kong! Not to mention the fact I don’t own a computer!! I am feeling stronger now that I have got over the initial fact of saying goodbye and leaving you at the airport! Life goes on as they say! If you are reading this Joe I hope your feet are baby soft since the countless foot massages I gave you while away! Im sure you have managed to pick up the fast pace again. What with the busy social life you share with the lovely friends you have made. Who might I add, made me feel sooo welcome in Hong Kong! They were also very useful when it came to ordering food and introducing me to a whole range of new flavours…from ox tounge to octopus! umm! I think the oysters were the best though! Yum! Yum!
    love ur gal!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
